Fe University offers Investing and Estate Planning class

An Fe University class, Foundations of Investing and Estate and Long Term Care Planning, will be offered for 4 Thursdays, March 8 – 29 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM in the Board Room of the Iron County Courthouse in Hurley. The course will be team-taught by Joseph Lemke, financial advisor with Edward Jones and Ryan Long, elder law attorney with Sturgul and Long.
In the eight class hours students will become educated to make better decisions about investing and protecting their assets, understanding options for long term care whether for themselves or family members and Medicaid rules. The class will also touch on estate basics such as Powers of Attorney, Wills and Transfer on Death agreements. There are no requirements for taking the class, though a case study will be emailed to participants to familiarize them with the topic prior to the first class.
Joseph C. Lemke is with Edward Jones where he provides advice in the area of Financial Planning to include retirement, estate and college funding. Lemke is a graduate of UW-Madison, an AAMS-Accredited Asset Management Specialist, a CRPC-Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor. He holds licenses as a Series 7 General Securities Registered Representative and Series 66 North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) Uniform Combined State Law Examination Investment Advisor. Originally from Park Falls, WI, his hobbies include outdoor activities and Lake Superior with his Golden Retriever. He spent 8 years in the WI National Guard.

Ryan Long is a partner with Sturgul & Long where he practices primarily in the area of elder law, which includes estate planning, special needs planning, nursing home planning, and Medicaid planning with a focus on asset protection. Mr. Long is admitted to practice law in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota. In his free time Ryan enjoys biking, playing tennis, skiing, and backpacking.

Registration forms may be downloaded from the website or picked up at the Mercer Library and the Iron County UW Extension Office at the Courthouse in Hurley. Completed forms may be dropped off at those locations or mailed to Fe University, PO Box 63, Hurley, WI 54534. The fee for the Investing class is $30 with a $5 discount if registration is received by March 1.

Fe University is a non-profit 501(c)(3) non-accredited “college” targeted to seniors but also available to anyone over 18. Scholarships are available.
