The Iron County Farmers Market will open for it’s 40th Season on Saturday, June 30th with our annual June Dairy Day celebration. Come and enjoy free hand-dipped ice cream cones, cheese samples and milk and register for free door prize drawings every half hour. Our co-sponsors of Dairy Day are the Chequamegon Dairy Association, the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board, and your local dairy farms of Wisconsin.
The market will open at 10:00 am with the traditional ringing of the market bell, and promises to be an exciting day with many local farmers and artisans offering locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, meats, maple syrup, jams, and artwork. Our Saturday markets will close at a new time this season, 1:00 pm. Our Wednesday hours will remain the same, 3:00 to 6:00 pm, with the first Wednesday market on July 11th.
Our opening day will also feature a 4-H Cookout Fundraiser featuring meat & poultry raised locally by the Penokee Range 4-H Livestock Club. They will be serving beef, pork, lamb, turkey, and chicken. Everyone is invited to stop over to have lunch and meet the 4-Hers an some of their future market animals. The 4-H Market Club will also hold a Bake Sale and provide bakery at the market refreshment table and a have raffle tickets available. The funds earned by the 4-H club will help support their Livestock Auction at the Iron County Fair and improvements to the animal facilities at the fairgrounds.
The Iron County Farmers Market is located on 10th Avenue north, across from the Wisconsin Visitor & Information Center on Hwy. 51 in Hurley. Stop by and meet your local farmers and artisans offering homegrown fruits, vegetables, herbs, maple syrup, jam, meats, and handmade arts & crafts.
