Turtle Flambeau FlowageLife is Outdoors in Mercer, Wisconsin
From the vast water wonderland of the 14,300 acre Turtle Flambeau Flowage to the far-reaching wilderness of the 74,500 acres of public forestland, Mercer offers authentic outdoor adventures that you will remember long after you’ve returned home.
Whether you choose to explore on snowmobile, ATV, car, camper, bike, boat, skis, or by foot, you are sure to discover the unending, unique fascination of the Northwoods.
Every season offers a new way to experience our natural beauty. The quiet of winter snow is broken by the sounds of spring peepers that fade as the loon’s calls fill the lakes in the summer. Finally, the woods explode in a riot of color in autumn and then the cycle begins again. That’s the beauty of Mercer. You can’t go wrong . . . life is outdoors.

Celebrate Earth Day with the Discovery Center through Catherine Wolter Wilderness! Featuring 15 lakes and ponds, this Nature Conservancy property is considered an important travel corridor for wildlife between NH-AL State Forest & the Ottawa National Forest. Join Naturalist Jenna on a ~3-mile hike while delving into some of the unique plant and animal species that call this property home. Feel free to bring along a lunch or some snacks as the group will take a short break on one of the lakeshores on the property.
Thanks to the generous sponsorship by an NLDC supporter, this event is free of charge. Space is limited and registration is required by 4/20/25. Participants will meet at the Catherine Wolter Wilderness trailhead. All registered participants will receive parking lot coordinates and additional program details prior to the event date. Tuesday 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.
