Description

Join Nature Conservancy volunteer Rod Sharka as he leads us by canoe across scenic Palmer Lake, down the Ontonagon River and across Tenderfoot Lake to reach Guido Rahr, Sr. Tenderfoot Forest Reserve. The cultural history of Tenderfoot Lake will be discussed as we canoe and then we will explore large tracts of old-growth forests and undeveloped shoreline as we hike around Mirror Lake, now accessible due to a newly created boardwalk. 6-mile canoe trip and 4-mile hike will be moderate to strenuous; pack water and a lunch. Limited space available and include a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 8 participants. Participants will need to drive themselves to the start location of the trip (directions will be emailed prior to the trip). Do not come if you have had illness within 14 days of event (you will be able to receive a refund). NLDC reserves the right to cancel/refund if case levels significantly change and the program in deemed unsafe. Facemasks will be required at the start of the program and when social distancing cannot take place. Register by 9/16. We will provide canoes, paddles, PFDs if needed. $55 ($45 Members). Friday, 9am – 5pm.
