Sing along with Spoons for the People on July 17 from 10am-11am! Participants will learn about their own voices and experience the physical and mental benefits of singing with others. Through breathing exercises and fun warm-ups, they will learn about the structure of the voice and tips for healthy, efficient singing. With printed lyrics available, we’ll sing a repertoire of original songs and classic popular music tailored to children or all ages. Singing is not mandatory, and listeners will enjoy hearing our collective voices accompanied by the folksy autoharp and the comical nose flute. Gaining personal confidence, building a sense of community, and connecting the mind with the body are all accessible ways we can improve our lives through singing!

Vince Schueren (AKA ‘Spoons for the People’) is a singer, teacher, and folk instrumentalist who prioritizes playfulness and creativity when performing. He’ s dedicated to learning, formally and informally, about music as a way to build community and encouraging others to find their voices. Born and raised in the South, he moved to the Chequamegon Bay area in 2021 and enjoys performing, teaching voice lessons, directing community choirs, and facilitating hands-on educational workshops. He loves improvisation, songwriting, group singing, unique folk instruments, and (of course) teaching unsuspecting concert-goers how to play the musical spoons! Vince holds a Bachelors degree in Vocal Performance and a Masters in Music Education. He recently won first place in the regional singing competition, Big Top Idol, and his debut album, ‘Country-Queer Balladeer’, was recorded live and released in October 2024. You can find him online at www.SpoonsForThePeople.com, or on Facebook/Youtube/Bandcamp.
