Chef will talk about these important flavors along with the cooking techniques of stir frying, steaming and deep frying, and discuss the important staple of Thailand – rice.

Recipes will include:  Sticky Rice, Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce, Green Papaya Salad, Southern Thai Curry Paste & Dry Meat Curry, Basil Chicken with Egg and Stir Fried Rice Noodles.  Tastings and recipes will be shared

After his training in the classic French cooking techniques, Mike went on to own Michael’s Restaurant in Sycamore, IL.  He is now retired, and enjoys cooking many ethnic cuisines, teaches cooking classes at LOLA, and he is also a fine wood worker.  Many of his wood furniture creations end up at LOLA benefit auctions, and are highly sought after.  Mike is also on the Board of Directors for LOLA where he helps in caring for the LOLA building.   He lives in Land O’ Lakes with this wife, Margaret Baack, who is a fiber artist.
