Chapter 640 of the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association out of Oshkosh, WI), will be offering FREE airplane rides for kids ages 8-17 on Saturday, June 30 at the Manitowish Waters Airport. Registration from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Flights from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Weather permitting.
These rides are part of the ongoing Young Eagles Program which was started in 1992. The goal of the program was to give one million kids a free airplane ride by December 17, 2003, the 100th anniversary of the first flight of the Wright Brothers airplane at Kitty Hawk. That goal has been met, but the Young Eagles Program is continuing with a new goal of giving
100,000 kids a free ride each year.
Kids who wish to get a ride MUST be accompanied to the airport by a parent or legal guardian. The flight route will be around the Town of Manitowish Waters.
