Economic Impact of Silent Sports topic to be discussed at ICORE annual meeting

Mercer, WI – Ron Bergin from the CAMBA Trail System will discuss the impact of silent sports trails and infrastructure in the northwoods on Monday, October 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the Mercer Community Center. Bergin is hosted by the Iron County Outdoor Recreation Enthusiasts (ICORE) and the Mercer Public Library.

Bergin is the executive director of the Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA) and will give a presentation on the CAMBA trail system and its economic impact on its surrounding communities. CAMBA has conducted several economic impact studies in recent years, including a 2014 study demonstrating an economic impact of silent sports of over $16M for Ashland, Bayfield and Sawyer counties; and a 2019 season-long study to assess the economic impact of the CAMBA trail system. Rick Gehring and staff from WinMan Trails in Winchester will also attend to talk about their trail system and future plans.

This event is preceded by ICORE’s annual meeting at 5:00 p.m. and a potluck dinner at 6:15 p.m. The meeting, potluck, and program are all open to ICORE members, prospective members, and members of the public. There is no charge to attend.
