The Iron County Citizens Forum (ICCF) will host a candidates’ forum on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 7pm in the Mercer Community Center located at 2648 Margaret St. The seven candidates running in a contested race for two supervisor positions on the Mercer Town Board have been invited to participate.

The candidates are Brad Bettin, Tanner Hiller, Dave McNutt, Christa Reinart, Opal Roberts, Eric Snow and Tom Thompson Jr. (incumbent). A primary election will be held on Tuesday, February 19th in order to reduce the slate to four candidates who will then be placed on the ballot for the spring election which will be held on April 2nd.

This non-partisan forum will follow the format set by the League of Women Voters. Each candidate will be given time to present brief opening and closing remarks. Written questions will be taken from the audience and will be presented by our moderator Amy Nosal of the Iron County UW-Extension. Forum volunteers will be recruited from outside of the Mercer Area. Additionally, candidates and their supporters are asked to refrain from engaging in any campaigning activity.   Currently plans are being made for an additional forum in March to be held in Mercer for Town Chairman and School Board candidates.

This forum is an opportunity for all voters to become informed about the issues and positions of these candidates. The event is free of charge and all members of the public are welcome to attend. For more information, contact Norman McKindles at 906-201-1424 / ndmck55@gmail.com
