Over half of Wisconsin’s 51 native mussel species are listed as species of greatest conservation need! Join Jess Weinzinger, Conservation Biologist with the WDNR Wisconsin Mussel Monitoring Project as we “dive” into the lives of these fascinating creatures, including the biology of freshwater mussels, their importance, and how volunteers can contribute to their preservation. We will start with a program and ID session before we get to know some of the species found in our local waters as we canoe the Manitowish River! Bring a sack lunch and wear shoes and clothing that can get wet. We will be standing in, and reaching into the river. Canoes, paddles, and PFDs will be provided. Pre-register by 7/9. $35 ($30 members)
