When Gaylord Nelson established a Youth Conservation Corps in Wisconsin, it was part of a broad plan to make environmental issues a top priority in our state and nation. Manitowish Waters was the site of one of the camps to bring young high school men to the Northwoods to assist with projects to improve and protect our natural resources.

Join retired teacher Kay Krans for a visit back to the days of the YCC camp at Statehouse Lake and learn of some of the great contributions these boys made in the conservation of our area, ultimately creating a national model for youth environmental conservation. Join us for an evening of delicious nibbles and expanding your knowledge. Donation bar and complimentary appetizers and desserts from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM, program from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Register by September 10. $15 ($12 members). Thursday, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
