Northwoods Land Trust Guided Hike in Town of Sherman
Northwoods Land Trust Guided Hike
When: Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 1pm-3pm
Where: Beaver Creek Hemlocks Conservation Area is located along Hwy. 182 in the Town of Sherman, Iron County, south of the Turtle Flambeau Flowage. There is a small parking area for vehicles. Nearly 2.5 miles of easy to moderately difficult hiking trails meander through the property.
What: Join Northwoods Land Trust (NWLT) for a guided hike at one of their flagship properties, Beaver Creek Hemlocks Conservation Area. Located in the heart of the Springstead area, this 200+ acre property features an abundance of old-growth hemlock forest – a rare ecosystem on the Wisconsin landscape. In addition to looking for and learning about the unique flora and fauna here, special attention will be given to how forests like this contribute to mitigating climate change through carbon storage. Trail and weather conditions can vary a lot this time of year, so be sure to bring appropriate clothing/footwear. This will be a slow-paced hike, with frequent stops to observe and talk about what we see.
