Discovery Center’s annual fundraising gala offers some things new
The North Lakeland Discovery Center has announced its annual fundraiser, The Big Event, beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 27, at the center located in the heart of the northwoods in Manitowish Waters.
This annual outdoor gala featuring auctions, a fund-a-wish appeal and gourmet dinner all takes place under the big tent at the North Lakeland Discovery Center– always on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.
A gourmet dinner with dessert follows the event’s traditional appetizers and beverages. New this year visit the distilled spirits tasting table, 50/50 raffle and games, as well as the traditional silent and live auctions along with the annual fund-a-wish appeal. Discovering New Pathways and Gardens & Grounds are event and appeal themes for 2018.
This year’s live auction features Red Garage Auctions auctioneer Bryan Mergen of Wausau, Wisconsin. Bryan graduated from auction school in 1998 and has been developing his craft for nearly 20 years and was selected as the 2013 Wisconsin State Champion Auctioneer. Bryan will be auctioning exotic one-ofa-kind experiences as well as unique adventures close to home. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to win a trip of a lifetime coupled with philanthropic spirit.
Make your reservations early — especially for the new limited seating Premier Tables for 8-10 people each. Limited to two tables only, these guests will be strategically located directly in front of the auctioneer and will be served by surprise “celebrity” wait staff. These guests only will enjoy reserve wine, take-home chocolates and specialty after-dinner drinks to enjoy during the live auction or to simply take home.
The Discovery Center’s mission is to enrich lives through connecting nature, people and community. This annual event helps fund naturalists, programming and operations.
Local businesses, organizations and community members donate items for the auctions and also show their support for this unique community organization in many other ways throughout the year.
Activities begin at 4:00 p.m. Advance reservations required. For registration visit the website at www.DiscoveryCenter.net or call 715.543.2085.
