Description

Join local historian Jim Bokern from the Manitowish Waters Historical Society and a Discovery Center Naturalist on two historical hikes exploring Vance Lake, the Manitowish River and the administrative CCC Camp known as Camp Mercer. We will explore a mysterious logging site, river drive logging booms, a
resort site on state-leased land and archaeological remnants of Camp Mercer. This is a moderately challenging hike that includes both on-and off-trail hiking. Masks will be required for this program.  Register by 11/5.  Registered participants will meet at the Discovery Center and caravan to the sites. $40 ($35 members of the NLDC or MWHS).  Saturday, 12:30 – 4:30 pm.  Please read our program and event registration and cancellation policy here.
