Admission

  • Free

Location

Van Vliet Hemlocks

Summary

Explore the natural world through outdoor adventures. Depending on the season, we will hike, bike, ski or snowshoe while learning from Northwoods experts – naturalists, historians, geologists – in an engaging, recreational approach to nature education.

Description

The Van Vliet Hemlocks are a beautiful example of an old-growth forest in the Northwoods.  Join a Discovery Center Naturalist to learn about this unique habitat and explore interesting winter animal adaptations that allow animal’s survival through winter.  This approximately 2-mile snowshoe is moderately strenuous due to the rolling terrain of the area. Families are welcome!

Space is limited; advanced registration is required by 2/5/26. Registered participants will be emailed with more details, including where to meet, prior to the program.  Snowshoes are available (free for members and $5/non-member).  This event is free and is generously sponsored by the Friends of Van Vliet Hemlocks.  Saturday 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.
